The catalysis group focuses on the study of heterogeneous catalysts and new materials that are crucial for a clean transition towards a more sustainable chemical processes. Heterogeneous catalysis plays a pivotal role in many process for production of chemicals, fuels, energy and in reducing pollution through a large number of environmental protection processes. At our group we are focused in the understanding of relationships between surface active site and catalytic functioning in many applications ranging from energy technologies based on hydrogen or other energy carriers to applications for cleaning of exhaust streams in different environments. We address the above issues by combining the search for novel green synthesis methods with the detailed characterization at nanoscale level of the material, under in-situ and ex-situ conditions.
